Marymount MRT is one of the underground stations of the Circle Line in Bishan, Singapore and is the main stop for residents and visitors in the area.
And those not familiar with the stop will be in for a surprise because of the number of shopping malls surrounding the MRT station. Visitors will have to ready their bellies and wallets, because they’re not going to run out of restaurants and shops to go to!
Sin Ming Plaza
Sin Ming Plaza is actually a mix of residential and commercial space, with the retail shops located at the ground floor and the residential units in the upper floors. Built in the 1990s, the plaza has a lot of colorful restaurants in its area, giving local and foreign visitors a lot of options for food and drinks.
Shoppaholics will have to visit other malls in the area though, as it lacks and other kinds of retailers and is mainly for food fanatics. Visitors of residents can enjoy its facilities like a swimming pool and a badminton court.
Junction-8 Shopping Center
One of the more popular shopping centers at the heart of Singapore is Junction-8 Shopping Center. It’s conveniently located just near the Bishan MRT and Bus Interchange. Over the years it has expanded, and it has been known to have everything that you would ever need in a shopping center. Jadescape condo is also near to J8 shopping mall.
It has a cinema and retail shops from local and international brands. But what it’s probably best known for is its astounding number of restaurants and hawker centers. If you like to eat, Junction 8 is the place to go.
Thomson Plaza has been around since the 1980, so it’s probably one of the oldest malls in the area. When it opened, until the 1990s, it’s been famous for having a Yaohan Department store, a Japanese branded department store.
Now, Thomson is more modern but is still holds a sentimental place in the hearts of the older generation. Thomson Plaza has a lot of restaurants and other fashion and beauty shops, but since its appeal is geared toward the older crowd, it makes it a good quiet place for families to hang out in.
Mid View City
This center is actually a mixed business and commercial hub, home to some manufacturing and construction businesses with majority of its commercial stores catering to services.
There are still some places to get some food and drinks and do some light shopping, but it’s really a place where you can get things done. It has a lot of stores for your gadget fix, beauty and wellness shops, automotive stores, and much more. When you need some serious services done, this is where you go.
Toa Payo Hub
Toa-Payoh Shopping Mall is actually a combination of two centers – the Toa Payoh Hub and the Toa Payoh Mall. The Toa Payoh Hub is the larger of the two, housing retailers from electronics and gadgets, fashion and beauty, banking services, personal health care, furniture and household items, and supermarkets.
Shoppers will go crazy in this mall, but it’s actually the best for the residents living in the area. They don’t have to go far as all the necessities they need are there, and then some. It even has several Primary and Secondary schools, Kindergartens and a clinic.
